Abstract

The first part of the present work investigates legal and practical problems emerged in the German legal system concerning cross-border placements of children under art. 56 Brussels IIa Regulation. The second part of the work offers a first critical assessment of the changes proposed to the Brussels IIa Regulation, and highlights problems that might still occur should the new rules enter into force as they are proposed.
