Abstract

This article will examine briefly whether the description of the role of a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) or Chief Risk Assessment Officer (CRAO) as generally understood matches the role they should play in companies, particularly those with business operations outside of their home country. In the age of globalization, this is a key issue which is being ignored. This raises the very important issue of what knowledge the CCO or the CRAO should have regarding risks in international matters. I shall refer to both the CCO and the CRAO as an officer.
