Abstract
English Abstract: This paper is a literature review of concepts that concern capital and capital maintenance, with the indication of their applications in the international accounting standards (IAS/IFRS), and Algerian accounting rules. The paper aims to display the role of capital concepts in determining the accounting model, through the bases of measurement that used to value financial statements items, and the impact of those concepts on measurement and disclosure of earning. The results show a convergence between the concepts of capital maintenance in IAS/IFRS and those that adopted in SCF, which differ substantially from those that adopted in PCN.
