Abstract

Korean Abstract: □ 최근 투자 및 생산 관련 지표의 부진이 일부 완화되었으나, 우리 경제의 성장세는 여전히 미약한 것으로 판단됨.

○ 건설투자가 높은 증가세를 유지한 가운데, 광공업생산도 일시적 요인에 기인하여 개선되는 모습

- 건설투자가 양호한 모습을 지속한 가운데, 설비투자도 기계류와 운송장비 모두에서 부진이 완화됨.

- 광공업생산은 조업일수 증가(1일), 기저효과 및 자동차업계 파업 종료 등 일시적 요인에 주로 기인하여 증가폭이 확대됨.

○ 그러나 대내외 불확실성 지속으로 소비심리가 크게 위축된 가운데, 건설수주 등 선행지표도 부진하여 경기가 단기간에 개선되기 어려울 것으로 사료됨.

- 소비자심리지수가 큰 폭으로 하락함에 따라 향후 민간소비가 점차 둔화될 것으로 판단됨.

- 수출도 금액 기준으로는 유가 상승으로 인해 증가폭이 확대되고 있으나, 물량 기준으로는 세계교역량 위축으로 낮은 증가세를 지속할 가능성

- 아울러 건설수주, 건축착공면적 등 건설투자 관련 선행지표도 부진한 것으로 나타나, 향후 건설투자의 증가세가 완만하게 둔화될 가능성을 시사

English Abstract: The Korean economy exhibited partial improvements in investment and production related indicators but growth remains slow.

Construction investment continued high growth while manufacturing and mining production improved on temporary factors.

Construction investment stayed favorable while facilities investment improved in both machinery and transport equipment.

Mining and manufacturing production showed increased growth largely on temporary factors such as more workdays (one day), base effect and an end to the automaker strikes.

However, consumption sentiment slackened significantly on persisting uncertainties at home and abroad. And, sagging leading indicators including construction orders received imply that the economy is not likely to improve in the short-run.

The consumer sentiment index tumbled, suggesting the possibility of a gradual moderation in private consumption.

Exports expanded further on an amount basis due to oil price rise but exports on a volume basis are likely to continue slow growth on shrinking global trade.

Meanwhile, construction-related leading indicators including construction orders received and floor area starts remained weak, signalling a gradual moderation in construction investment growth.
