Abstract

Korean Abstract: □ 최근 우리 경제는 경기 회복세가 점차 확산되고 있는 것으로 판단됨.

○ 10월 중 산업생산이 비교적 큰 폭으로 증가한 가운데, 내수도 점차 개선되는 모습

╺ 광공업 및 서비스업생산이 점진적으로 확대되고 있으며, 출하도 내수와 수출 모두 증가로 전환되면서 제조업 평균가동률이 비교적 큰 폭으로 상승

╺ 민간소비의 부진이 완화되고 설비투자도 증가로 전환되는 등 내수가 점차 개선되고 있는 것으로 판단됨.

╺ 아울러 선행지수 순환변동치가 기준을 상회하는 가운데 국내기계수주, 건설수주 등 주요 선행지표가 개선되면서 향후에도 완만한 경기 회복세가 유지될 가능성을 시사

○ 다만, 수출 증가세가 다소 둔화된 가운데 동행지수 순환변동치가 여전히 기준치를 하회하고 있어 아직 경제 전반이 활성화되고 있는 것으로 평가하기는 어려움.

╺ 11월 중 수출은 IT 제품과 자동차 등 주요 수출품목의 회복세가 약화되면서 최근의 증가세가 다소 주춤하는 모습

╺ 또한 동행지수 순환변동치가 기준치를 하회하는 가운데, 한국은행 경기실사지수도 하락하면서 여전히 낮은 수준에 머물고 있음.

English Abstract: The Korean economy saw its recent recovery expanding at a gradual pace.

In October, industry production rose relatively sharply and domestic demand improved gradually.

Industrial and services production increased moderately, and shipment for both domestic demand and exports turned upward, sharply increasing the (average) capacity utilization rate in manufacturing.

While the contraction in private consumption moderated, equipment investment turned upward, suggesting a gradual improvement in domestic demand.

Also, while the cyclical component of leading composite index still remained above the baseline, key leading indicators, such as domestic machinery orders received and construction orders received, improved, suggesting that the modest pace of economic recovery will be sustained.

However, in the midst of slow growth in exports, the cyclical component of coincident composite index still remained below the baseline, implying that it is too early to say that the overall economy is operating at its full capacity.

In November, exports grew at a slightly lower rate, as the pace of recovery in exports of key items, such as IT products and automobiles, has slowed slightly.

While the cyclical component of coincident composite index remained below the baseline, the Bank of Korea’s business sentiment index (BSI) on the actual business performance decreased to remain at a low level.
