Abstract

Korean Abstract: □ 최근 우리 경제는 완만한 경기 회복세를 유지하고 있는 것으로 판단됨.

○ 민간소비와 설비투자의 부진이 점차 완화되는 가운데, 수출도 선진국을 중심으로 회복세를 지속하는 모습

╺ 건설투자의 양호한 증가세가 유지되는 가운데, 민간소비와 설비투자의 부진이 점차 완화되면서 내수가 완만하게 개선되고 있음을 시사

╺ 수출은 선진국 경기가 점차 회복되면서 반도체, 자동차 등 주요 품목을 중심으로 최근의 개선 추세를 지속하고 있음.

╺ 아울러 주요 선행지표가 전반적으로 개선되고 있어 우리 경제의 회복세가 점차 확산될 가능성 시사

○ 다만, 생산과 출하의 개선추세가 일시적으로 둔화되었으며, 제조업 평균가동률도 여전히 낮은 수준을 기록하는 등 일부 지표의 개선이 지연되고 있음.

○ 한편, 12월 중 국내 금융시장은 미국의 양적완화 축소 결정에도 불구하고 주가, 금리 등 주요 지표들이 통상적인 수준의 변동을 나타냄에 따라 양적 완화와 관련된 정책 변화의 영향이 제한적임을 시사

English Abstract: The Korean economy is seen to continue its moderate recovery.

The private consumption and equipment investment showed a gradual easing in their contraction, and exports, mainly to advanced economies, continued a recovery.

With the construction investment on a steady rise, the private consumption and equipment investment showed a gradual easing in their contraction, suggesting that domestic demand is improving at a modest pace.

Exports maintained the improvement, mainly in key items, like semiconductor and motor vehicles, with the continuing economic recovery led by advanced economies.

Meanwhile, most of major leading economic indicators showed some improvements, indicating that Korea’s economic recovery is likely to expand at a gradual pace.

However, production and shipment improved at a temporarily slower pace, and the (average) capacity utilization rate in manufacturing remained still low, pointing to delayed improvements in some indicators.

Despite the US' decision on tapering, Korea's financial market remained relatively stable during December, as its key economic indicators, such as stock prices and interest rates, fluctuated in a normal band, implying that policy changes relating to tapering have brought only limited impacts.
