Abstract

This Introduction presents the Inter-American Human Rights System’s impact, primary legal instruments, and its two key institutions, the Inter-American Court and Inter-American Commission. Next, we synthesize crucial developments in the System’s jurisprudence and briefly refer to several of our critiques and alternative conceptual proposals - all of which are elaborated in our book. Finally, we outline the structure and methodology of the rest of our book.
