Abstract

This study aims to integrate two issues surrounding Thailand’s labor market: (1) gender wage gap and (2) informal workers. The purpose of this study is to examine the gender wage gap of formal and informal workers in Thailand by geographic region and across economic sectors. The methods used in this study are Heckman selection method and Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition. The results of this study confirm that there is a gender wage gap in Thailand. Even when females have better characteristics than males, they still earn lower wages. And informal female workers earn the lowest wage in every region and economic sector.
