Abstract

The proposed link between diet and acne vulgaris (acne) has been controversial. Although treatment at the turn of the 20th century included dietary modification and studies in the 1800s and 1960s supported a dairy-acne link, the notion fell out of favor in subsequent decades and attention shifted from prevention to therapy. In the last few years, dairy-acne hypotheses have found renewed attention and support from the epidemiological to the molecular and cell-signaling level.
