Abstract

This discussion paper examines the potential for a Parliamentary Budget Office in India, with a particular emphasis on the merits of nonpartisan analysis that informs legislators on pressing fiscal matters and thereby addresses an information asymmetry that empowers the Indian legislature in its budget oversight function.
