Abstract

This section reviewed empirical study on adolescent’ alcohol and other drug use behavior. The contributions of parenting attitude and style were evaluated in relation to adolescent’ alcohol and other drug use behavior and parenting attitude and style was reported in this study. Findings from the review revealed that authoritative parenting styles were associated with decreased risk of drug use, though findings remain inconsistent across cultures and societies. Future studies may explore some the inconsistent reported in the study, specifically the contradictory result between the races.
