Observer Report: The 2017 Trial Against Political Prisoners From Western Sahara

Abstract

The trial observation report evaluates the 2017 trial against political prisoners from Western Sahara, known as the Gdeim Izik group. The report evaluates the Gdeim Izik court case as a whole (December 2016 until July 2017). The writer of the report was present as an international observer during the whole court case.

The Gdeim Izik group is a group of political prisoners from Western Sahara arrester prior to, during, or after the dismantlement of the Gdeim Izik camp in 2010. This report concludes that the group of political activists from Western Sahara are, and have been for nearly seven years, on arbitrary detention.
