Abstract

Entertainment industry is a creative sector of which the paramount success is centred on the recognition of the awards given to the artists. Disputes are very rampant in the industry which constantly resorts to litigation.

The article highlights the importance of applying arbitration to entertainment disputes viz-a-viz resolving the disputes through arbitration. The article discovered that arbitration as a dispute resolution mechanism is rarely used in this industry even though arbitration is fast becoming applicable to settlement of entertainment disputes world-wide particularly in the area of the intellectual property of the artist, and artist management.

Finally, this article recommends arbitration as most relevant pathfinder for entertainment dispute and enactment of entertainment arbitration act in Nigeria.

It concludes that serious education should be made to the entertainment sector in order to embrace arbitration as a dispute settlement template.
