Abstract

This article, published in 2011, points out that large segments of the American public have strong reasons to be frustrated and angry, for instance about the Wall Street bailout that left Main Street behind. Furthermore, Tea Partiers/ Trump voters are correct that there is a serious problem with the way the government operates. Their mistake is in thinking that the size of the government is the problem; the real problem is that the government has been captured by special interests. (The article also notes that so far most right wing activists are expressing their anger in a legitimate and institutionalized way—by running candidates in elections.
