Abstract

The growth of single crystals of methyl-p-hydroxy benzoate, which have a powder second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency 40 times larger than that of urea and a cut-off wavelength less than 200 nm, is reported. The “gel-solution technique” was used to grow these crystals. High-quality single crystals with dimensions of 25 × 12 × 10 mm3 were obtained.
