Abstract

The future of research on demand for sport lies in the integration of time series approaches from sports economics and the survey-based approaches from the sports marketing and consumer behaviour literature, a focus upon leagues other than elite-level major leagues in each nation, and in new efforts to generate richer datasets on the nature of (potential) sports consumers and their consumption of the core sporting product (the contest) and complementary products.
