Abstract

Whereas blockchain technologies offer various important benefits for securities exchanges, until now their adoption has not been forthcoming. However, the recent statement of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) provides an example of the potential for future integration of blockchain technologies to improve securities exchanges. This discussion paper considers those merits in view of adoption by other securities exchanges in the future.
