Abstract

This paper surveys key policy reports from the UK on issues relating to online platforms. It then considers how English law might analyse the contractual relationships between the various platform participants, and discusses relevant case-law as well as legislative developments of relevance to online platforms.

The paper concludes that the approach in the UK/in English Law is generally pragmatic, with no desire to develop detailed regulation specifically on online platforms. Instead, specific concerns are to be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
