Abstract

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are made up of small nodes which have event sensing capability, limited battery energy and communication ability. Many WSN, employ data routing protocols which target energy efficiency and reliability in transferring data. Current routing protocols are designed for specific applications and certain network topology. In this work, survey of existing state of the art data centric routing protocols is performed. The challenges, advantages and future design opportunities are described. The need for future research in this area has been illustrated.
