Abstract

This study uses the 2007 and 2013 Annual Social and Economic Supplement of the Current Population Survey to examine the effect of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on health insurance coverage among adults in the U.S. It finds that the ACA has improved coverage for men, youth, minorities, and low-income and less-educated individuals. However, those who are self-employed or do not work full-time have been negatively impacted.
