Abstract

A country that aims at social welfare of its citizens cannot exclude financial inclusion from its mission. Availability of basic banking services accompanied by the support of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in the remote areas of the can bring about an incredible change in the economy as a whole in the long run. This paper tries to assess the financial literacy of a sample of the sample to be tested for a research proposal. In other words, the paper describes the outcome of a pilot study conducted in the rural area of Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka.
