Advancing Transparency in the European Union: The Role of the European Ombudsman

Abstract

This chapter endeavors to investigate the role of the EO in the realm of free access to documents and information, with a focus on describing and analyzing the underlying norms and principles which form the ombudsprudence in this field. The main research question we try to answer is whether the institution is indeed involved in creating norms of good administration in individual decisions and if yes, to be able to make an inventory of these norms.
