Personal Qualities and Skills of College Students in One of the Private Colleges in Oman

Abstract

Nowadays, employers or managers who are hiring their employees do not only consider the curriculum vitae of the applicants. Though it may be hard to identify the innate qualities and acquired skills of the individual but somehow the gestures and words used by the applicant may help them to find good employees for their companies. This study aims to determine the personal qualities possessed by the participants and their acquired skills. The participants are the students who are enrolled in the Managing Organisations module in Level 5. The survey checklist form was administered to the participants in one of the private colleges in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman who are officially enrolled in the Academic Year 2016-2017. The descriptive survey method of research was utilised. The researchers made questionnaire was used as the main instrument of data collection. The findings of the study revealed that the leading personal qualities that the respondents possessed is Self-motivation while the bottommost is Self-direction and initiative. On the other hand, the respondents declared that being Organised is their leading skills while Interpersonal Skills are the least among the different skills used in this study as the indicators.
