Abstract

German Abstract: Die Tätigkeit von Unterrichtenden und Lehrenden ist zunehmend von der Nutzung urheberrechtlich geschützter Werke geprägt. Dieser Beitrag soll einen Einstieg in die rechtliche Grundlage dieser Nutzung – das Urheberrecht – bieten. Ziel des Beitrags ist es, Leserinnen und Leser mit den Grundkenntnissen auszustatten, um urheberrechtliche Berührungspunkte erkennen und einfache urheberrechtliche Sachverhalte richtig beurteilen zu können. Dazu führen wir in die Grundlagen des Urheberrechts ein, die das Verständnis der urheberrechtlichen Spezialnormen für Unterricht und Lehre ermöglichen.

English Abstract: Usage of copyrighted content increasingly influences the work of educators in school and higher education. This paper aims at providing an introduction to the legal foundation of this use case, namely Austrian copyright law. In providing elemental knowledge of Austrian copyright law, we intend to allow readers to distinguish copyright issues and assess basic copyright matters appropriately. We therefore introduce basic principles of Austrian copyright law as to enable understanding of the provisions regulating specific copyright regulations concerning the use of works in educational environments, which are described subsequently.
