Abstract

This paper attempts a historical review upon the major historical determinants that shaped Colombian International Politics, referring mainly to the US-Colombian relations. Also enquires in the lead of the major institutional developments that guide to the formation of the global market and especially emerging trading areas one of which best exponents is the FTAA. An entrepreneurial view is developed to explore scenarios where Colombian businessman will have to face deep political commitments and commercial strategies to face successfully FTAA open opportunities to attract Hemispheric foreign direct investment and increase trade currents.
