Abstract

Currently in the 21st century there is no effective solution or process for rebuilding the increasing number of post conflict countries; Resulting in these countries to be trapped in the continuous cycle of conflict and stability. This paper examines the impact of adaptive postconflict urbanism through the use of quantifying culture. The research draws on a verity of rich case studies such as Rwanda in addition to, post WW2 London and Tokyo, aiming to derive common guidelines. The research also examines behavioral science and quantifies culture of each nation using Prof. Greet Hofstede's 6-dimensional model for deriving common behavioral factors that determine whether a country can be successfully rebuild. The Findings from the case study are tailored and applied on the case of Mogadishu, Somalia; A city that is now briefly stable after almost 3 decades of war.
