A Survey on Contribution of Visual Analytics in Health Care Domain

Abstract

As medical organizations modernize their operations by adopting modern electronic equipments, vast amount of Electronic Health Care Information are available through giant repositories. Health related information of a patient is multidimensional in nature since it is generated, gathered from variety of resources to include vital information like symptoms, disease, lab test results, various diagnostic results, complications, treatment schedules and prescriptions suggested by multiple specialists. Decision making in proceeding future treatments may be even complex; critical decision making do not rely on single patient health information. Such situations can be influenced by treatments and results experienced by similar patients. Visual Analytics (VA) is an emerging technology which shows significant promise in addressing information overload challenges. Visual Analytic process combines the strength of intelligent automatic data analysis coupled with visual perceptions aided by human interactions. This survey paper discusses on various research methodology adopted and results obtained using Visual Analytics framework in health care domain.
