Abstract

Crime, violence, harassment on women, who incorporates about 40 to 50 percent of our population, is the most alarming and predominant aspect in today’s world and it should not been taken lightly. Prevention and proper defence against crime is indispensible for the safety of our own and our closed ones. Analysis of crime in a systematic pattern can enable us to follow the trend of crime occurring and help us prevent the adversity. Here we are using various data mining approaches i.e. different clustering algorithms like K-Meansclustering, Density Based Spatial Clustering with Noise (DBSCAN) and Agglomerative clustering to observe the crimes patterns of West Bengaland accelerate the process of solving crime. Basically we analysed and clustered crime instances using these algorithms and tried to sort out which one is the best to predict crime in future. Data mining is used massively along with the analysis, investigation and uncovering the patterns for occurrence of different crimes. Clustering will be performed based on the location of the crime, those who were involved in crime and when the crime occurred. This can help the police force to predict crimes which can occur in future and take steps for accurate prevention.
