Abstract

There is insufficient recognition of the fact that we are actually dealing with two crises that must be addressed simultaneously. The first crisis is the longstanding conflict within Ukraine over whether post-Soviet Ukraine should be a monocultural or bicultural nation. The second crisis, which has been superimposed onto the first, is the crisis in Russian relations with the It also has deep historical and cultural roots.These two crises came together with explosive impact when President Yanukovych was ousted from office on Feb 22, 2014.
