The European Union (EU) is the largest trade partner of Azerbaijan and it accounts 42.4% of the country’s trade. Review of Azerbaijan’s goods export structure to the EU demonstrates that export is solely relied on the natural resources and only for minor percentage accounts in industrial and agricultural goods. However, the status quo is expected to change in incoming years due to changes in the world market and Azerbaijani’s government’s “Strategic road maps for the national economy and its main sectors”.
In this article, authors aim to analyze the current situation and propose ways to increase trade ties between Azerbaijan and the EU, particularly in the agri-food sector. The main objective of the article is divided into following parts to achieve:
- The current framework of Azerbaijan and EU trade relationship;
- Evolution of Azerbaijan’s agricultural goods export to the EU;
- Future prospective of Azerbaijan’s agricultural goods export to the EU.
