Abstract

The role of technological hype in international security is an important yet under-examined subject. This paper examines technological hype in general, its particular significance within thinking on military capabilities and the balance of power during the past century, and the possibility that such hype is resurgent today. It also considers the principal pitfalls against which such analysis should attempt to guard to avoid the mistakes of the past.
