Abstract

Big Data Analytics is an important method of data collection that is widely used to analyze big sets of structured or unstructured data. There are many technologies supporting the current Big data ecosystem. The literature selected for this paper clearly discusses the various scenarios where big data analytics have been successfully implemented or could see a possible usage. The study then maps the current available literature to Design Science according to its six phases. A simple and powerful criterion is presented in this paper to classify the literature in the most appropriate phase it can contribute to. Recommendations are generated for future researchers in this area to use the findings to improve the use of big data analytics for the relevant phases of Design Science which have not been explored properly.
