Abstract

This report is based on a NINSO seminar presented by Dr Giuseppe Destefanis, a guest speaker from the School of Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire. NINSO is a multidisciplinary research group with members from various academic departments, among them being Law, Business, IT, Mass Communications, Sociology, Mathematics and Engineering.

The invention of blockchain and its integration into our daily lives has had a significant impact on the technological world. One of the most prominent uses of blockchain is in cryptocurrencies. Our society has become ‘cryptocurrency crazy’, but there is a lack of understanding as to how the technology behind it works. This report addresses blockchain technology from a Computer Science perspective.
