Abstract

The global culture of homogenization is fast spreading and contributing to the destruction of highly specialized indigenous cultures. The globalized way of life has come to stay and cannot be wished away. This paper highlights on Afrobeat, a popular music brand in Nigeria that incorporates the invaluable intangible heritage of southwest Nigeria. The paper seeks to determine the reality of its status as cultural heritage under Nigerian law.
