Abstract

This paper is called modern methodology because it is written from within the modern spiritual model of humanity, based on the only proof of dualism, the first scientific general theory of psychology. Second, it is methodology of mind. A way of thinking applicable generally, appropriate to be adopted by everyone from advanced research into neural operation to the floor sweeper in the local factory wrestling in mind with how to manage their teenage child.

The paper argues that a modern methodology is only fully understood within appropriate understanding of the fixed epistemological relationship with the world external to our awareness, itself only fully understood within a scientific general theory of psychology.

People act according to the ideas they apply, the intensity of action arising from the emotions associated with those ideas. Methodology defined as the process of ‘orientating’ us to circumstances. It follows methodology involves two crucial factors. First, bring structure to existing ideas on the circumstance, second bring clarity on how to research the circumstance and identify what we do not know but need to know to deal most effectively with it. Both organizing current knowledge and identifying additional knowledge required involve tools of mind, referred to as methodology.

If our actions dominated by the ideas we apply to any situation, and if we seek to manage situations best we can, then it is sensible to seek out the best ideas to apply. I call the search for the best ideas as reason. It follows that modern methodology is the process we use in our reasoning to seek the best ideas to apply enabling us to manage the situation the best we can, to achieve the life goals to which we aspire.

Reason the process of making the most of our nature.
