Abstract

In this Introduction to the forthcoming volume, "Legitimacy: The State and Beyond", we give a brief overview of the leading approaches to the legitimacy of suprastate institutions and norms. We then provide summaries of the volume’s chapters, written by Andreas Follesdal, Martin Krygier, Cormac Mac Amhlaigh, Fabienne Peter, Philip Pettit, Jiří Přibáň, Joseph Raz, Wojciech Sadurski, Michael Sevel, and Paul Weithman.
