Abstract

This research work is a contribution to existing literature on various factors that Working Professional (WP) students make before selecting an MBA degree. The research identified some of the most common reasons among WP candidates which led to adopting MBA part time program. The most common reasons being for knowledge enhancement, career enhancement, career switching, fly to a distant country, developing creativity and innovation at the workplace, entrepreneurial venture or the societal trend that influences students to study further. Primary data was gathered from the WP students of Amity University, Dubai. The data was then interpreted in the form of quantitative data analysis. The research also gives in sight on MBA program types, convenient and flexible programs for MBA students, financing their MBA degree, and MBA for Entrepreneurs.

The topic describes the role of MBA for working professional in career building which answers questions like ‘What made most of the professionals choose MBA while working?’, ‘Is it benefiting them?’, ‘Are studies manageable apart from professional or personal commitments?’. The most widely recognized inspiration factors among MBA competitors are to widen knowledge, enhance career, switching career, build strong network, or build up their entrepreneurial ability by getting a more focused edge. The results and findings of this report help shedding light on career guidance to working professionals in particular. The researcher conducted a survey upon interest among thirty two MBA students belonging to working professional batch Amity University, Dubai. The findings from this research highlight the impact of prospective student’s decision on part time MBA from a student’s perspective, employer’s perspective, policy makers and University perspective.
