Abstract

The digital revolution failed to keep its promise to provide an open forum for the exchange of information and ideas. Many fear that established gatekeepers have been replaced by algorithms that operate based on the users existing preferences, thereby safely harboring them in the comfort of what is known and expected instead of confronting them with alternative thought and positions. This article discusses the so called "Filter Bubble"-Phenomenon in a human rights perspective.

Keywords: Filter Bubble, Echo Chamber, Public Watchdogs, Free Speech, Privacy, Human Rights
