Abstract

Each year, the Association for the Study of Black Women in Politics co-organizes a roundtable on professionalization, mentoring, and/or life issues for academics. Prior roundtables have focused on mentoring, work-life balance, mental health, navigating the tenure track, and mid-career planning, among other things.

This year’s session would be entitled “Winning the End Game: Reflections on Retirement and Second Acts.” There have been some informal discussion of these issues in the past and people have asked to have more discussion about planning for retirement and/or career changes, including the nuts and bolts of decision-making, but also how to remain politically and intellectually engaged during retirement and/or in second or alternative careers.

Invited Participants: Mack Jones Diane Pinderhughes Joe McCormick Sheila Harmon Martin Elsie Scott Kathie Stromile Golden (chair)
