Abstract

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs published its draft Environment (Principles and Governance) Bill on 19 December 2018, in order to begin the task of putting in place domestic environmental governance frameworks after the UK has left the EU. This short working paper provides initial thoughts on the role of the proposed new Office for Environmental Protection in scrutinising, monitoring, reporting, advising and enforcement.
