Abstract

Spanish Abstract: El proceso de reintegración política de los excombatientes de las FARC-EP inició de facto en 2016 con su participación en las discusiones institucionales de la implementación de los acuerdos de paz firmados con el Gobierno. Pero no se trata de un salto al vacío. El movimiento político denominado Fuerza Alternativa Revolucionaria del Común (FARC) aterriza en la democracia colombiana luego de haber avanzado, durante distintas etapas, por una prolongada estrategia de organización social y política a nivel local que precedió a su decisión de marginar el uso de las armas. Este capítulo propone entender la reintegración política de FARC como el proceso de integración al sistema político colombiano por parte de los comunistas revolucionarios, mediante los mecanismos de participación formales y no formales tras los años de ruptura entre 1926 y 2016.

A partir del examen de fuentes y documentos de la antigua guerrilla y de las Fuerzas Militares, y voces de los antiguos miembros de FARC, este texto describe la manera en que, durante la ruptura con el sistema político, los comunistas en armas enfrentaron el desafío de mantener su cohesión interna mientras intentaban desplegar una estrategia militar y política para ejercer poder y relacionarse con las poblaciones en zonas bajo su influencia. Fruto del análisis de esta trayectoria histórica, este capítulo señala la cohesión ideológica y la movilización de los ex guerrilleros de base en los mecanismos de participación ciudadana como los dos grandes factores de posible éxito o fracaso del actual proceso de reintegración política de FARC

English Abstract: The process of political reintegration of ex-combatants of the FARC-EP began de facto in 2016 with their participation in the institutional discussions of the implementation of the peace agreements signed with the Government. But it is not a leap into the void. The political movement called Revolutionary Alternative Force of the Common (FARC) lands in the Colombian democracy after having advanced, during different stages, by a prolonged strategy of social and political organization at the local level that preceded its decision to marginalize the use of weapons. This chapter proposes to understand the political reintegration of FARC as the process of integration into the Colombian political system by the revolutionary communists, through formal and non-formal participation mechanisms after the years of rupture between 1926 and 2016.

Based on an examination of the sources and documents of the former guerrilla and military forces, and the voices of former FARC members, this text describes the way in which, during the rupture with the political system, the communists in arms faced the challenge to maintain their internal cohesion while trying to deploy a military and political strategy to exercise power and relate to the populations in areas under their influence. As a result of the analysis of this historical trajectory, this chapter points out the ideological cohesion and the mobilization of the former guerrilla base in the mechanisms of citizen participation as the two great factors of possible success or failure of the current process of political reintegration of the FARC.
