Abstract
This book chapter, authored by Dr. Zachary D. Kaufman, was solicited and will be published by Cambridge University Press in the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Transitional Justice, which is co-edited by Dr. Nadya Nedelsky and Dr. Lavinia Stan. The chapter describes the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda’s background, mission, organization, and activity and provides an assessment of this ad hoc court.
