Abstract

South Africa faces a triple challenge of inequality, unemployment and poverty. Added to these three is a plethora of other socio, political and economic problems that the country is facing. Inequality has been a persistent problem the country has been trying to annihilate but with no sight of it disappearing soon. Income inequality in South Africa still remains stubbornly high despite many efforts that the government have been putting in to eradicate it. South Africa like any other previously colonised states has a history of spatial development. The differences in development still persist and are impacting on capital flows in the economy. Inequality in South Africa is outrageously high when compared to other developing and middle income countries.
