Abstract
On the basis of a country visit to Uruguay on April 24-28, 2017, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment reviews the legal and institutional framework for environmental protection in Uruguay; describes its environmental conditions; and describes good practices and challenges in several areas, including: (a) climate change; (b) access to information; (c) public participation in decision-making; and (d) access to effective remedies. The report concludes with recommendations of the Special Rapporteur in each of these areas.
