Abstract
On the basis of a visit to Mongolia from September 19 to 27, 2017, this report by the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment reviews the legal and policy framework for environmental protection in Mongolia; the environmental conditions in the country; and good practices and challenges in several areas, including air pollution; mining; conservation; access to information, participation and effective remedies; and protection of environmental defenders. The report concludes with recommendations designed to promote and protect human rights relating to the environment.
