Abstract

With the increase demand of food production for a growing population, wireless sensor network (WSN) technology is found as a reliable, cost effective solution for the sustainable growth of agriculture production. To meet the requirements of precision agriculture, a test-bed was designed and deployed in the university horticulture garden for tomato crop. During deployment phase, it was observed that the successful validation of the test-bed in laboratory environment does not ensure the same behavior in real field conditions. In real conditions, various hardware, communication link and embedded software related issues in the sensor nodes and overall test-bed were observed and same is captured as lessons learned. This paper proposed these lessons and the possible remedial action for the resolution of the issues observed.
