Nowadays, with the development of high-performance computer systems, it is possible to use complex physical and mathematical models for the description of the wide range of phenomena. Earthquakes may lead to the crashing of ground and underground structures. Computer simulations may be used to estimate the seismic resistance of buildings.
In this work, the procedure based on the full-wave simulation of seismic processes in heterogeneous geological massif is described. The governing system of the dynamic elastic equation was numerically solved with the grid-characteristic method on structured curvilinear meshes. The mathematical model of the earthquake hypocenter was described. It was tested on the complex model of the shelf region. The dynamic process of nuclear plant destruction was simulated. The proposed approach allows us to estimate the volume of the destroyed structure as a function of time and consequently, estimate the general seismic resistance.
