Big Data carries properties i.e. complexity, ‘V’ factors(eg.volume, velocity, variety etc), multivariable data which has to be stored, retrieved and distributed the information. Bikaner is a one of the big city with respect to population and area of Rajasthan. It comes under the ‘Thar Desert’ area and there is no river in this region. Mainly, water demand is fulfilled by Municipal Water-Supply Corporation (Indira Gandhi Canal Lift) and self-boreholes. This work is an attempt to find out the possibility and opportunity of Big Data Analytics with in Bikaner Urban Water Management. This sector is comparatively less competitive with respect to forthcoming concept of ‘Smart Water & Smart City’. There have been surveyed various water tanks (OHSR, HR); process and activities have been supervised with work measurement and motion study. Different problems have been identified during the study such as less man force, working culture, poor asset conditions, technical up gradation, data storage & documentation, consumer readdressed system and Non-revenue water increment etc. The focus of work tilts towards find out the compatibility of generated data with ‘big data’, which opens the arena of analytics with upgraded technologies. Universal and interdisciplinary nature of water will allow inter-intra relational robust research work also.
