Abstract

In October 2018, the Florida Bar initiated the Bar's first Criminal Justice Summit. It included state attorneys, public and private defense counsel, policymakers, legislators, and judges.Together they examined topics including sentencing reform, pretrial release, direct file of juveniles, mental health, offender re-entry, and conviction integrity. This Article provides an overview of this Summit, the issues covered, and the next steps for achieving criminal justice reform.
