Development of Novel Solvents for CO2 Removal from Blast Furnace Gas

The iron and steel industry accounts for a considerable percentage of CO2 emissions from industrial sector and is a main application target for promoting the implementation of CCS (Carbon dioxide capture and storage) as a global warming countermeasure technology. RITE has conducted research and development (R&D) on chemical absorption that separates and recovers CO2 from blast furnace gas for more than 10 years, and has been successful in developing new absorbents with low energy consumption. This report presents the results obtained from RITE’s R&D activities.
